Court surfacing update

We are getting close to completing the Court repaving and resurfacing project.

We are confident that the new courts will be the best community-club courts in the city and we look forward to seeing club members and others, as guests, or during public hours, using and enjoying our new facilities.

Last year, we were able to have the majority of the large items completed:

    1. Complete rebuild of the base – including an additional 4” of material.

    2. Repaving of the asphalt surface with 3” of layered asphalt.

    3. Part of the sealing and fibreglass base.

    4. Complete replacement of the perimeter fencing – thanks to the city of Toronto.

All of the above work was done to budget and on schedule.

This year, the remaining work is:

    1. Recoating of the court surface, with application of surface colouring and lines by Premium Court.

    2. Installation of new tennis net-posts as required.  (Old posts in good shape will be reused.)

    3. Installation of new court divider nets. These will be on pulleys making it much easier to pull back and forth and have strong tie-backs.

    4. Installation of new windscreens.

    5. Addition of several new accessory items  -including scorekeepers, court clocks, and a rebound net, to improve the Moore Park tennis experience.

Timeline

The recoating of the court surface is weather-dependent.  To make sure the surface is the best possible one, we have to wait until we have several consecutive days of plus 10 degree Celsius weather with minimal rain.  Given usual April weather, the work is slated to begin in the middle of May.  The court surface colouring and lines will take about a week to complete and then cure.

MPTC will communicate our court set-up and opening dates when details are finalized.

Teams in 2025: please indicate your interest if you would like to play on a team.

MPTC plans to field teams as usual this year.  The Club will facilitate indoor tryouts In April.  We will liaise with the ICTA and Toronto Ladies Tennis League to see if our early matches can be played away, and/or with other clubs or venues if courts need to be rented for the Moore home matches.

To help us organize 2025's teams, please indicate your interest in playing on a team by completing this short survey asap:  https://forms.gle/eo984BuqoTFMvz3z6
