Moore Park is thrilled to have Matt Baccarani, as our Head Pro. With an extremely diverse playing and coaching background, Matt has something to offer every single Moore Park member.
As a junior, Matt represented Canada at the World Youth Cup, won a National Title in U18 doubles and finished top 5 nationally in singles twice. He attended Ball State University, where he achieved NCAA D1 rankings of #60 in singles and #4 in doubles. At one point he was ranked twice in the top 25 for doubles with two different partners. Prior to graduating from Ball State, Matt achieved ATP rankings in both singles and doubles.
Upon graduating, Matt went on to coach Sharon Fichman on the professional circuit for 3 years and helped her to reach WTA rankings of 115 in singles and 86 in doubles. He was the traveling coach for Genie Bouchard when she won her first ever pro event and the first of two Junior Wimbledon Doubles Titles.
Over the past 8 years Matt has coached at York Racquets, where he will continue to teach in the winters, and Thorncliffe Park TC as the Head Professional and Director of Tennis. He plans to offer a variety of programs geared toward all ages and all levels of play. Matt cannot wait to take part in all that Moore Park has to offer, from socials to tournaments to teams and everything in between.

Originally from St. Catherines, Ontario, Peter is currently living in Toronto. He was ranked top 5 in Canada before attending University of Wisconsin NCAA Division 1.
He joined the coaching staff in Madinat jumeirah in Dubai after completing University and has also worked as a Senior Pro at Rosedale Tennis Club and York Racquets Club in Toronto.
Peter is also a visual artist who shows work on Only One Gallery in Parkdale.

Valerie began her tennis career at the age of 5 in Kiev, Ukraine where she fell in love with the sport. Most currently, she was a Tennis Professional at Donalda Golf and Country Club and is a Club Pro 2 Tennis Canada Certified Coach.
As a player, Valerie boasts an impressive track record finishing her junior career Top 10 in U18 and #1 in the Open category in Ontario.
She studied Psychology at York University, where she was a proud captain of the Lions Varsity Tennis Team and played out of the #1 spot.
In her varsity career, she won 2 Gold and 2 Silver OUA medals, was named OUA Female Player of the Year 3 consecutive years, was nominated for York Lions Female Player of the Year and led her team (undefeated) to a National Championship in the 2014-2015 season making her the #1 Canadian University player.
Valerie loves to be on the court and is passionate about helping you achieve your tennis potential!
Assistant Pro: Haley Sherrard
I have been playing tennis since the age of 6 and have recently returned from the U.S. where I played singles and doubles for St. Lawrence University and was Team Captain in my senior year. I was also a member of Canada's 2017 Maccabiah team during which I represented Canada in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. I am very passionate about the sport and love helping kids of all ages and skill levels find their potential and fall in love with the sport too."
Haley will be helping with junior programs, junior camps and will be available for junior private lessons starting in mid-June.
We are excited to have Ethan returning for his second season at Moore Park. He has competed provincially and nationally for 9 years.
A Gold Medalist in the Toronto District Collegiate Athletic Association, he went on to play for the Western University Men’s Varsity Tennis team starting roster as a freshman, studying management. More recently, Ethan completed the Tennis Canada instructors course with honours.
He is an energetic, enthusiastic, and encouraging young coach who displays great patience while communicating his ideas effectively and clearly.
After the Spring we have all experienced, Rhys (pronounced Reese) is looking forward to being outside this summer and coaching and playing tennis.
Rhys has played tennis since he was four and has been involved volunteering and coaching with the junior programs and summer camps at Moore Park for the past two seasons.
Rhys enjoys interacting with kids of all ages helping them to develop the fundamentals of their tennis game through drills and games designed to develop racquet skills and footwork, helping them learn the rules of the game and, most importantly, putting the emphasis on fair play and fun!
