MPTC Head Pro:
Matt Baccarani

Moore Park is thrilled to have Matt Baccarani, as our Head Pro. With an extremely diverse playing and coaching background, Matt has something to offer every single Moore Park member.

As a junior, Matt represented Canada at the World Youth Cup, won a National Title in U18 doubles and finished top 5 nationally in singles twice. He attended Ball State University, where he achieved NCAA D1 rankings of #60 in singles and #4 in doubles. At one point he was ranked twice in the top 25 for doubles with two different partners. Prior to graduating from Ball State, Matt achieved ATP rankings in both singles and doubles.

Upon graduating, Matt went on to coach Sharon Fichman on the professional circuit for 3 years and helped her to reach WTA rankings of 115 in singles and 86 in doubles. He was the traveling coach for Genie Bouchard when she won her first ever pro event and the first of two Junior Wimbledon Doubles Titles.

Over the past 8 years Matt has coached at York Racquets, where he will continue to teach in the winters, and Thorncliffe Park TC as the Head Professional and Director of Tennis. He plans to offer a variety of programs geared toward all ages and all levels of play. Matt cannot wait to take part in all that Moore Park has to offer, from socials to tournaments to teams and everything in between.

Matt is TPA certified as a Club Pro 3.

Senior Pros
Kyla McNichol

 

Kyla McNicol is a coach 2 certified coach.

 

As a player, Kyla was ranked as high as top 15 in Canada in her final year of juniors (U18). She played four years at the University of Central Florida where she played #1 doubles and #2 singles for the UCF Knights.

 

She has coached for the past 15 years professionally and 5 years part time prior to that. Kyla was an assistant coach for two Western Canada Games and a Canada Games.

 

She was a Tennis Development Manager for Tennis Canada in 2010 before moving to Toronto where she has coached for the past 11 years.

She started at Timberlane Athletic Club in Aurora, followed by Rosedale Tennis Club, Mayfair Parkway and most recently York Racquets Club in midtown Toronto. 


Kyla will mostly be available for private lessons during the day on weekdays.

Kyla is TPA certified as a Coach 2.

Hi there! I'm a Tennis Canada Club Pro 1 certified coach with a passion for tennis.

 

With over 14 years of playing experience under my belt, I've developed a deep understanding of the game from both a player's and coach's perspective.

 

For the past two seasons, I've had the privilege of coaching at top-notch facilities like Toronto Tennis City and Thorncliffe Park Tennis Club. Alongside my coaching role, I'm also a certified fitness instructor, allowing me to integrate strength, conditioning, and injury prevention techniques seamlessly into my coaching sessions.

My goal is simple: to help players of all levels reach their full potential on the court while fostering a love for the game that lasts a lifetime. Whether you're just starting out or aiming for competitive success, let's work together to take your tennis game to the next level!

Ethan Wachtel

Ethan has played tennis for the past 13 years at the inter club under 18 and high school level. 

 

uring the Winter, he played intramural tennis at the University of Western Ontario.

 

He is Tennis Canada certified with his instructor 1 coaching level and is entering third year of teaching tennis.

Ethan is a TPA certified Instructor.

Asher Kandathil

 

Asher has lived, trained, and competed around the world at junior and senior levels. As a junior he played in and won Provincial and National tournaments in Canada, India, and Spain, where he held Top 50, Top 10, and Top 100 rankings respectively. He played in the Orange Bowl in Florida and the Asia Cup in India.

 

Early success gave Asher the opportunity to live in tennis obsessed Spain for 4 years training under Andy Murray’s former coach, Pato Alvarez at world renowned Sanchez Casal Academy in Barcelona. During this time, he played in ITF tournaments and an ATP Challenger tournament.

Asher’s competitive career was, unfortunately, cut short by injury sustained in the final of the Spanish Nationals, but his passion for tennis was unquenched and he felt the undeniable pull to become a coaching professional.

Asher set out to get relevant education and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Sports Performance in the Spring of 2023 from Hartpury University in Gloucester, England. He is also certified as a TPA Club Pro 1. Asher has worked as the Head Pro at Carleton University, coached the Capital Kids program at its various club venues around Ottawa, and at the Rideau Sports Centre, General Burns Tennis Club, Lac Sainte Marie Club in Quebec. 

He is motivated and inspired by tennis players looking to up their game no matter what their age or level. Asher loves being around people, playing cricket and sharing his love of music, hiking, and travelling. Asher is fluent in English, Hindi, and Spanish.

Asher is very much looking forward to coaching at Moore Park in 2024. He is excited to get started and meet new people who share his love of the game. He is available and keen to teach private, semi-private and group lessons during the days, evenings, and weekends as they are able to fit in around club
programming.

Josh Cadiz-Ramcharitar

Hailing from Ajax, Ontario, Josh was consistently a top 25 ranked Junior in Canada. Josh also competed on the Junior ITF Tennis Circuit before making the transition to play NCAA Division 1 Tennis in Florida. 

Over the past three years, Josh has coached High Performance and Adult / Junior programs at various clubs across the United States and Canada.

Josh is ecstatic to bring new energy to the club and further enhance Moore Park’s love and passion for the beautiful sport of tennis. 

Josh is TPA certified with his instructor 1 coaching level and has also attained his PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) certification along with his PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) certification for coaching in the United States.

Ibarra Guevarra

Ibarra is a tennis fanatic who enjoys competitive and friendly tennis tournaments.

 

He loves teaching beginners and intermediate players.

 

A certified tennis instructor with Tennis Canada, he uses fun games and drills to help players of different ages and levels to stay active and to give them a strong foundation for the game of tennis.

Ibarra is a TPA certified Instructor. 

Rachel Meyerowitz

 

Originally born in New York City, Rachel grew up in Toronto as a competitive soccer player and ski racer. Tennis was a hobby for Rachel until she began university and took things up a notch. Rachel just graduated from the University of King’s College where she played for the Dalhousie Tennis Team. In August 2023, Rachel played in the Canadian University Tennis Championships that took place in Montreal alongside the Women’s National Bank Open. In July 2022, Rachel represented Canada at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

 

Rachel is TPA certified with her instructor 1 coaching level. 

 

Rachel has previously worked at the Waegwoltic Club in Halifax coaching both kids and adults of all levels. Rachel is eager to support players in developing a love for the sport, no matter your age, no matter your level. Rachel is available for private and semi-private lessons. Looking forward to the season!

 

Rachel will be coaching in our Jr. programs and will also be available for Junior Private Lessons.
