Introducing the Pros taking part in the Pro-Am Slam

Daniel Nestor

Daniel Nestor won 91 men's doubles titles (with 11 different partners), including an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, four Tour Finals titles, and twelve Grand Slam doubles titles attained with seven different partners (eight in men's doubles and four in mixed doubles). Nestor was the first man in history to win every major and Masters event, the Tour Finals, and an Olympic gold medal, an achievement since matched by the Bryan brothers. Nestor became the world #1 Doubles Player for the first time in August 2002.

Nestor is widely considered one of the foremost doubles players in history, due to his longevity and continued success at the top of the game. People tend to forget that Nestor took down the #1 player in the world (in singles!) on 3 separate occasions while playing Davis Cup for Canada. In January 2016, Nestor became the first doubles player in ATP history to win 1000 matches. Nestor retired at the end of the 2018 season, ending a 27-year career.

Paul Beck

Paul played college tennis at the University of Alabama where he beat several top 100 ATP players and was ranked top 10 in both singles and doubles. Paul is the Head Pro at York Racquets in mid-town Toronto. He has won 26 Canadian Senior National Championships in his tennis career! Paul’s career-high ATP singles ranking was just inside the top 500.

Miron Mann

Miron has had a notable tennis career both as a player and a coach. He was a top-ranked junior player in Canada, consistently placing in the top 5 of singles and doubles. He played college tennis at the University of Utah, where he led his team to a 2008 Mountain West Conference Championship and was ranked as high as #12 nationally in doubles while consistently playing high in the singles lineup. More recently, Miron has been recognized for his coaching achievements, leading one of the best junior development programs in Canada at the Richmond Hill Country Club. Miron is also the Tennis Director at East York TC. He received the prestigious Gary Caron National Scholarship Award in 2012, which is awarded to the top coach in Canada under the age of 30.

Josh Cadiz-Ramcharitar

This is Josh’s first year teaching at Moore Park TC. Hailing from Ajax, Ontario, Josh was consistently a top 10 ranked Junior in Canada. Josh competed on the Junior ITF Tennis Circuit before making the transition to play NCAA Division 1 Tennis in Florida. He attended Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Over the past three years, Josh has coached High Performance and Adult / Junior programs at various clubs across the United States and Canada.

Matt Baccarani

Matt was a Canadian U18 National Champion in doubles and finished as high as 3rd in Canada in singles. At Ball St. University, he was a four-time All-MAC First Team selection and played a crucial role in leading the team to three conference regular season championships and two league tournament titles. During his tenure from 2002 to 2006, Baccarani helped the team achieve a remarkable 19-1 record in the Mid-American Conference.

He played at the No. 1 singles position for his final three seasons and held the No. 1 doubles spot throughout his college career. Baccarani recorded 78 singles victories and 100 doubles wins. He was honoured as the MAC Player of the Year in 2006 and achieved a national ranking as high as No. 61 in singles. Additionally, he earned national rankings in doubles all four years, with his highest doubles ranking being No. 4. He also competed in the NCAA Championships for singles as a senior and for doubles in his last two years. Baccarani was inducted into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.
