Junior Programs - Frequently Asked Questions

Question - What happens if my child misses a class?

Answer - There will be no refunds or make-ups for missed classes.

Question - Does my child have to be a member of Moore Park Tennis Club, in order to participate in programs?

Answer – Non-members can participate in our programs as well as junior members with a Junior Club Membership.  Please note that registration in our junior instructional programs includes a complimentary Junior Program Membership for the current year only.  It is not renewable.  Once children with complimentary Junior Program Memberships stop taking lessons, their complimentary membership lapses and they can enter the club membership only from the club’s waitlist.

Question - How old does my child need to be to take lessons?

Answer - We accept children into our programs aged four years and up, as of January 1 of the current year.

Question - Can I request my child be grouped with another child?

Answer - Yes, if space is available, we will do our best to accommodate.

Question - If we sign our junior up for Monday and Wednesday (or Tuesday and Thursday) program, can they attend any of the other days that offer their level?

Answer - Unfortunately once a junior signs up for a particular class or classes, these will be the classes they must attend. This is due to the fact that we have a set amount of coaches for each class based on the number of juniors attending.  If more kids join the class unexpectedly, then our ratio of juniors to coaches will be affected.

Question - My child has little to no previous experience in tennis. Are they still able to register for your programs?

Answer - Yes, we accept all levels of play. Our programs allow for everyone to take part, learn, have fun and feel comfortable right away.

Question - How often should a junior practice?

Answer - The amount of time one should practice depends on age, skill, and individual goals.

Question - Do I need to provide a racquet and balls and for my child?

Answer - We will provide all the balls for our programs. We can supply racquets if required, however, we do promote that each player brings their own.

Question - What is the player to coach ratio in your programs?

Answer - Our maximum player to coach ratio is 8:1.

Question - Is there anything my child needs to bring?

Answer - Athletic shoes, athletic clothing that they can move in and a water bottle. Players will not be allowed to play in flip flops or sandals.

Question - What methods of payment do you accept?

Answer - We currently accept cheques, e-transfer and cash. All cheques should be made payable to Matt Baccarani.

Question - Are programs cancelled when it rains?

Answer- It depends. During light rain, or if the courts are wet but it has stopped raining, programs may be delayed as we attempt to dry the courts. Programs will be canceled if the courts are too wet to dry or if it's still raining and the forecast shows no signs of letting up.

Question - How do I know if a lesson has been cancelled?

Answer- Updates regarding the spring program (if cancelled due to rain), will be posted on our club's website and Facebook page. - https://www.facebook.com/MooreTennis. Facebook membership not required.
